There was a whole lot of sledding down our driveway and the upper and lower roads around our house.

Thanksgiving 2011

Mom, Doug and I headed out to the house to get it ready for that epic event, Xmas 2011. The place still needs paint -- except for our gorgeous sage master bedroom which was done by Pat and Jon this summer. We needed to get plenty of bedding, exactly 10 towels and a table at which to eat the figgy pudding and drink the egg nog.

Here's the view from the front door with Doug drinking a beer. He put up those old skool Xmas lights himself. We got the green table from Foster's Crossing, a local antique joint that just happens to serve up really tasty sandwiches for lunch.

Mom is stuck in the kitchen, preparing our meals to order. More importantly, aren't those wooden custom cabinets gorgeous? The kitchen opens into the living room and those are the stairs to the master bedroom.

Once you are up the stairs, you enter the master bedroom. Doug bought a great retro lamp that sets off the wood and green walls.

And here's a peek at our warm, wood shower.

It makes perfect sense to end with this pic, no?

Here is the master bedroom, complete with small balcony out front.

And the lord and lady's bathroom. Our builder made and designed the wood cabinetry.

Onward and upward with the tour

The continuation of the tour of the estate commences with the very fabulous laundry/downstairs bathroom.

The second bedroom looks out upon a pickup truck. Well, only sometimes.

The master bedroom lies beyond this lovely wooden door. That's a closet to the right.

Instead of a witty story about a boy, a girl and the near-heartbreaking process of closing on a house, I'll simply show you the final pics and make an entreaty to anyone who wants to help paint the interior of the place.

It's a small bar, but we'll serve cocktails anyhow. Manhattan, anyone?
